Se cuenta con 12.063 registros de colección identificados a nivel genérico y especifico. De estos registros 3.328 estan georeferenciados con calculo de error. Del total de los registros el 65% se corresponde a Gastropoda; el 32% a Bivalvos; el 1,7% a Poliplacoforos; el 1,2% a Cefalopodos y el 0,1% a Escafopodos

Geographic Coverage
Si bien la colección malacologica incluye en su mayoria registros de Argentina y Antartida, la misión de la colección (como el Museo de La Plata en general) es resguardar y difundir los registros de América del Sur, es asi como tambien cuenta con registros de, fundamentalmente, países limítrofes como Brasil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Perú, Uruguay.
